Biography:
John Cyr grew up in Natick, Massachusetts. While attending The Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts, John was first introduced to the art of photography. During his liberal arts education at Connecticut College in New London, John deepened his passion for photographing images. He also became increasingly fascinated by the darkroom techniques to control and alter his prints. During his college years, John spent two summers at the Maine Photographic Workshops; the first in a workstudy program and then as a darkroom assistant in the student labs. These experiences further advanced his black and white printing capabilities. After graduating Connecticut College in 2003 with a degree in Studio Arts, John moved to Brooklyn, New York. For two years, he has been producing silver gelatin prints for photographers and artists at MV Photo Labs, a custom black and white photography lab located in Manhattan. At the same time, John continues to develop his personal photographic portfolios.
